Othello

What motivates Iago to carry out his schemes? Is he evil incarnate, a madman, or a rational human being?

What is Othello's tragic flaw?

Three are three women in the play: Desdemona, Emilia and Bianca. What do you think of each?

I loved Othello! Even though it was a Shakespeare production, he captures the feeling of lust, love, desperation, jealousy, and LIES! Today we all go though these emotions and feelings, and in Othello you see that love and lust can be a dangerous thing. Someone is always out to get you and jealousy and lies can kill!! LOVED the movie!!

I love the movie Othello..now. I have a better understanding of it than i did in high school and can appreciate it more. It seems that the that if the characters had the the ability to rational there feelings more than the story would have a totally different outcome. I also don't understand Othello and his reaction to adultery. I mean even if she really did cheat on him, what gave him the right to kill her? And how would the to towns people react after Othello gave his reasoning for murder?

I really enjoyed this movie. I never really knew what Othello was about, but after seeing the movie I really enjoyed all the complex themes. I really liked Iago's character (in a twisted sort of way). He's diabolical.

Othello was a great movie for it being the first time i watched the movie. unfortunately i didn't understand some of what they were saying but over all it was a great movie. this movie was based on lies and jealousy on many people and two face people but it was romance at least i think so.

I thought Othello a GREAT! Iago was a great villian I thought was very clever and funny. He was so manipulative that I found it hard not to trust him and I knew what was going in the entire time. Ahhh Othello, I as very disappointed in him. He was so paranoid that His wife was cheating on him he didn't think rational at all. In the bfgimnkng I was very convinced that he loved her so much but he didn't even give her a chance to explain. He just killed her. Seriously though I have to give kudos to Iago even though he died in the end . He was by far my favorite villian!!!

Iago is a master manipulator and a fantastic villain. While most ‘bad guys’ set traps for the good-doing hero or lure them to the dark side with temptation, Iago strategy is more sinister. Iago manipulates entire character and complex situations by whispering into the player’s ears. It’s clear that Iago plays the Machiavellian role when he discusses the concept of reputation versus monetary gain. When Roderigo was upset over Desdemona and Othello’s secret marriage, Iago tells him to put some money in his purse, suggesting that will mend his wounds. However, when getting ready to tell Othello about his strumpet of a wife, he says that he does it only for the love of Othello, and that his “purse is trash!”

The part I love most about Iago though is at the end of the play. In the beginning, Iago has reasonable motivation for revenge. Cassio was promoted from underneath him and there are rumors that Othello slept with Emilia (Iago’s wife). However, towards the end, it seems to me that Iago just gets caught up in the game. He loves the chaos and reeks havoc on everyone. It reminds me of a modern day villain, the Joker from “
The Dark Knight”. What was the Joker’s motivation to cause chaos? In Alfred’s opinion “Some men just like to see the world burn.” I think this applies to Iago too.

This movie was great. It was not another fairy tale where everyone lives happily ever after. This story showed the true feelings of love, lust, jealousy and passion for things. It also had good humor.

this movie was well done, you got to know some of the characters on a personal level which really drew me into the movie. the concepts: love, jealousy, deception, and anger. I'm not going to lie, i thought this movie was going to be the cure for insomnia but, my eyes did nt leave the screen once it was on... not ever to text.

Othello was a good play. it showed how we as humans use jealousy to manipulate others to do what we want or to get our way.

The thing that happen in othello is a sign of what goes on in todays world we have people who lie steal and cheat to get what they want and that is what othello was about but also confusing because i believe that their was some romance 006

Othello is a great playwrgith and if someone has trouble understanding it the movies is a great way to understand it better. Othello is great with the storyline and all the meanings seen like trust, deceit, love, manipulation and betrayal. The use of words can be confusing as well but in the movie being able to see the action is helpful. What I didn't like was some of the characters and how they were portrayed because after reading the playwright I had my own image of their characteristics and image and now one was created for me. Although my personal images were changed I felt the movie represented the playwright well. It was a shame that betrayal and lies had to lead to death, but i assume that was the price to pay then with lies, thank goodness if one were to lie now you wouldn't be killed right away.

I read Othello in the 11th grade but was a little unclear on what was going on. In seeing the movieeceit, jealousy, humor and love. Othello should have used better judgement than to react upon what his sidekick was telling him. People died based on a lie and that was sad. The woman get the bad in of the stick and there was a lot of he said, he said.Modern day stuff. Othello showed that men too can be trouble makers, let's blame it all om them

I really enjoyed Othello. When it comes to Shakespeare I have always enjoyed watching his plays just a little more then reading them only because I get confused and tend to lose context of the words. This play was intense and truly was able to capture the essence of emotions of both love, jealousy, and the evil of lying. The evil lies that Iago filled Othello's head with were simply jaw dropping. I fond myself wanting to say out loud "why would you do that". On the one hand Othello was such a good and noble main character but to allow himself to be driven to the point of madness that he would kill his wife on the thoughts and words of another proves just how jealousy and deceit can corrupt a persons thought and soul enough to make them believe murder is plausible.

I loved the movie; however, I did not understand the language. Even though I didn’t understand the language I understood his emotion. The love he had for his wife and the thought of her leaving him for someone else really took a toll on him, consequently took their lives. I was a little upset that when his wife tried to talk to him he did want to hear it. It was always said but in this movie proves it true when it’s said “don’t judge a book by its cover”.

I enjoyed Othello overall. The way that everything fell into place for Lago or how he manipulated the scenarios was great. My heart really goes out to Othello's character, that darn handkerchief really threw him for a loop. His race went against him in the story and Lago prevailed in the end.
